We laugh our behinds off watching failed Indian missile launch - TopicsExpress

We laugh our behinds off watching failed Indian missile launch reports or reports on how Indian army top brass is involved in mega corruption scandals, reports on how Indian missiles program is far behind from that of Pakistans, reports on how Indian Army violates the sanctity of women in conflict regions (for this we condemn not laugh), reports on how Indian military has substandard ammunition and Pakistan Navy now has numerical superiority over the Indians in terms of active service submarines. Do we forget that these reports are critical of Indian military establishment YET no General, Admiral, Air Marshal or Defense Minister asks the Ministry of information in our neighboring country to impose a BAN on the TV channel for airing such a critical of military forces report. No Indian associated with defense establishment or RAW threatens the journos for airing such reports. Why has our military establishment been unable to digest criticism then and that too warranted criticism? Why do our ISI threatens (uncountable instances), abducts (Umer Cheema) and even allegedly kill (Saleem Shehzad) journos for critically evaluating it and Pakistan army? We have an answer to that. India is a democratic state and national institutions there are postured after undergoing decades of evolution under the democratic process to take criticism and dissent positively instead of making it a matter of institutional ego and national humiliation. We in Pakistan have just started to have some semblance of political stability in a quasi democratic setup (which has a long way to go to become truly democratic but still it is commendable that the process has initiated towards that end at least). Our defense establishment is still delving in the mindset of dictatorial regimes where no one could critically evaluate their role. We hope Pakistan Army and ISI realize that it is a changed game now and instead of swimming against the tide, they have to swim with it. It is not the time to promote friction among the national institutions, we are in a state of war. I sincerely hope some defense establishment higher up reads this status and pays heed to the point being made. Do SHARE on your personal walls. Courtesy: Pakistani م
