We left early this morning and had very snowy conditions for an hour and then it stopped. We were able to drive at a fairly normal speed for 11 hours. The Lord sent an abused boy(by the father) who was abandoned by his mother to Lee & Candy’s dormitory and then yesterday three brothers came, ages 7, 10 and 11, who were abused even to the point that the father poured scalding water on the back of the eldest. They are Omar, Guillermo and Manuel. Colossians 1:7 “As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; 8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. 9 ¶ For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” Colossians 4:12 “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13 For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Philemon 1:23 “There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus” It is Colossians 4:12 above that I have been waiting to share with you. Epaphras might have been a hard worker, a faithful minister, a fellow worker and a fellow prisoner but it is the fact that he was a GIANT of PRAYER is what makes him one of my most favorite characters in all of the Bible. We travel all over the USA and parts of Central America and Mexico and we have never seen a St Epaphras church. There have been St Paul’s, St Peter’s, Mary, Queen of Heaven, St Luke’s and many other Biblical named churches. But I have never seen a St Epaphras Church. I need an Epaphras in my life. I need hundreds of Epaphrases in my life. I cannot do it alone. I do not want to do it alone. God does not want me to do it alone. Everywhere I go and share our testimony there are those who say “Are you going to write a book?” Even Dottie asked me that years ago. A dear fellow missionary, David Beam, has the draft of the book we have written. Many say “Why not finish it? When will you finish it?” I do not want it published in my life time. The story of Casa is not about Mike and dottie. It is about what God has done FOR Mike and dottie through His giftings and the hundreds of other people–the Epaphrases- who have been part of our lives. David shared with us that he was to build a church for the Pentecostals who had bought property for a church in a remote village. A Baptist church came from then states & sked if they could help. So David had them build a pit and line it with plastic because there was no water. They carried water in cans and were able to dig the footers for the church and mix concrete for those footers. Then a Methodist church came and laid blocks and put on the roof. Then a Mennonite group came and brought the Story of Jesus in Cachiquil(msp), the Mayan dialect in that area, and some other denominational church came and purchased a generator since there was no electrical service there and the film was shown. Over 100 were saved. Who gets the credit! Not David! Not the Pentecostals! Not the Baptists! Not the Methodists! Not the Mennonites!! JESUS ALONE! But a number of Epaprases were the physical hands that Jesus used. The book will come when no one can slap me on the back and say that I did something great. All of the honor and all of the glory goes to Jesus. What made Epaphras a mighty man of God? Stay tuned!
