We like to blame VH1 and other sources of programming for destroying the American Black community but I remember a time when girls/women were embarrassed by loud cursing & talking, weave wearing, weak, undereducated females. We vowed to be the opposite of that. I saw women like that as sick or mentally challenged, diseased. It was like a live soap opera, never accepted as real/valid/valuable. The problem isnt the TV foolery, its more about many of us not feeling worthy of anything better.
