We live in an age of rapid information where news stories come and go very quickly. A few months ago, we heard a lot about the thousands of children fleeing violence in Central America and arriving at our Texas border. Although the number of children arriving has significantly diminished, there are still thousands of these kids awaiting an immigration court date. We must continue to explore long-term solutions and discuss the push factors that led these families to make such a dangerous trip. That is why I was pleased to join CHCI today to discuss this issue with leaders from USAID - US Agency for International Development, the governments of Guatemala and Honduras, and organizations like Catholic Relief Services. I look forward to our continued work on this issue.
