We lost another FWHS teacher and coach. Rest in peace Mr. Andrews. ANDREWS, James Howard Born November 30, 1938. Passed away peacefully on August 3, 2014. Preceded in death by Father Robert R. Andrews and mother Vera Andrews. Jim, was a loving father/husband of more than 52 years and a great role model to his children, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed people and touched many lives throughout his 75 years. Survived by Wife Nancy, son Rodd, daughter Jami, grandchildren Katie, Samantha, Casey, and Bodie along with two bothers Ron and Ben. Jim grew up and lived in the Dayton area his whole life. He had a passion for competition. He loved the friendships, sportsmanship, and the circles of people it created in his life. He was elected into the Sports HOF for both Fairmont West Dragons and Bowling Green State University. he was a multi sport athlete at both Fairmont and B.G.S.U. At Fairmont he enjoyed success not only as a player but as a coach. In the fall of 2013 he entered the B.G.S.U Hall with many of his Phi Delta Theta fraternity brothers. Jim taught / coached in the Stebbins, Wayne and Carlisle school district before moving to Fairmont. He retired from the Kettering School system in 1994 after teaching and coaching for more than 35 years. Jim was a member of Church of the Cross for nearly 70 years. The church family was influential in building his character starting from childhood. In Liu of flowers the family requests donations made to the Church of the Cross or a charity of your choice . Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 and services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at Church of the Cross, 3121 Wilmington pike, Kettering OH 45429. .
