We lost our Angel (13 year old Lab) this evening. She has been slowing down lately but did not seem in pain. Today she ate well, slept most of the day and was eager to go on our evening walk. She seemed fine on the walk, pulling on the leash when I walked too slow. She had a bit of trouble jumping into the car for our return but we just assumed it was because of the heat. When we got home, she stumbled out of the car then collapsed on the front lawn. We then rushed to the emergency vet where she continued to fail. It was not heat stroke as her temp was close to normal but her breathing continued to be labored and her heart sounds were faint. Decision made, she slipped to forever. She spent her life trying to disprove her name. She now IS her name. Of all the critters Ive had in my life, this one was special. Good memories but not enough of them.
