We love Aaron Scythes pieces ... NZ born, but he moved to Japan when he was 18. He learnt the craft of Japanese ceramics, as that is something he always wanted to do, even as a kid! He married, had a family and settled in Mashiko, a beautiful Japanese village, known for its amazing pottery.. when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, it changed everything, he packed up and moved home, he now lives in the beautiful little town of Te Aroha .... You can see his work is heavily influenced by the Japanese style, but also fused with the Maori Culture, and because the Japanese and Maori culture have so many similarities in ways, it works extremely well in his creations! ...
