We love the idea of having a king as long as we are the king. - TopicsExpress

We love the idea of having a king as long as we are the king. Hmmmm… somewhere I read thats the tyrannical power imbalance that the founding documents were all about checking. Instead of building on that stated urge to vigilantly check the Executive’s urge to rise to become the top of a hierarchy instead of an equal partner, and doing that through constant subsequent revision to those documents that insure the limitation of Executive power, the Executive has used its power to make itself more powerful and to unbalance the very idea of checks and balances. Now, especially since GW Bush (although this was a tendency whose momentum was well oiled by degrees in almost every previous administration), the balance of powers is more and more a rumor and a hoax. With state governments following the federal lead (witness Michigan Governor Snyder’s Emergency Manager law) and other nations noting the failure of the American system to stay true to its Democratic ideals, there is no stopping the global devolution of the democratic basis of decision making, or at least no basis that finds its roots and model in the current evolution of what is happening in the States. And with that we come to yet another age of the wars between Kings and all their precedents and antecedents. There is a flaw in the Founders’ design that has never been addressed, never been flushed out and isolated. Instead the thieves rub their paws together when they note that, although the doors have all been locked, a window has been left open. The power-hunger machinations inherent in anyone who wishes to be privy to that level of power have been unleashed by that possibility. It’s easy enough under the current arrangement of media and the corporatization of the state purse to produce propaganda that makes the leap to make such Imperial Executive power look like a necessity.
