We made it to clinic in Baton Rouge this morning, despite the hurricane that I had to drive through. Jeez it was bad! Macys counts are a little bit higher (800), so she will receive her scheduled chemo for the day and continue with the scaled down dose of 6mp each night. Shes not getting the full dose of 6mp because her counts have been barely decent, not great. Shes in the middle of her chemo infusions right now (Doxorubicin, Peg, and Vincristine.) It will take a few hours, and Im sure shell start feeling the nasty effects in a day or two. The bright side this week is... NO STEROIDS! She is scheduled to have an LPIT (lumbar puncture with chemo inserted into her spinal fluid) next week. Shes had several of these before... they are pretty much routine for us. Theyve always been done in Memphis, as with every procedure. However, we were hopeful that Baton Rouge could do it this time to save us a trip, but unfortunately we just found out that well be off to Memphis again next week. Macy has some special circumstances (her heart defect, Down syndrome, etc...) that make anesthesia more complicated. She needs a full operating room here in Baton Rouge to make it possible, and it was too short notice to gather her special team together. At least it will be a very short trip this time.
