We may live in a vulnerable world, but when we open ourselves - TopicsExpress

We may live in a vulnerable world, but when we open ourselves up and make ourselves vulnerable to love one another, we are going to find love, we are going to find ourselves surrounded by it, it is going to be sung by children with music that fills our building, and it is going to give us the hope to work and pray for peace and justice here and now because it is the ultimate hope that Jesus has for our whole world. Instead of a wary guardedness, we Christians are called to open our hearts, simply and humbly, and to trust God about what happens next. Can we love like that? Can we be like Jesus? My prayer is that we can. And sometimes all we have are our prayers. Our hopes. Our railings against war and injustice and evil. But the unchangeable Jesus, yesterday, today, and forever, will never stop loving us, never lose faith in us, never stop giving of himself for us, always be there as a foundation beneath our lives, and empower us to be that way for one another. Amen. ( Rally Day - Closing of Sermon given by Woody Berry- Pastor of Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church ).
