We may not have been as consistent on the pitch this season but - TopicsExpress

We may not have been as consistent on the pitch this season but the same can’t be said for some fans who have been in tip top form. Bang on the money….Everton lose a game and theyre there to pull the trigger with their anti-Martinez posts though they have been a little quiet of late as we’ve actually been winning! I’ll admit our performances havent always been pretty but points in the bag are points in the bag. No, I’m not oblivious to the fact that we’ve been struggling a little this year (compared to last season) and neither am I blinkered in my support of Martinez, the team and what he’s trying to achieve to think that they’re untouchable and beyond criticism. I was never a Martinez fan in fact his appointment put me into a tail spin of dread and fear of what he might do with the Everton David Moyes left for him... these thoughts have thankfully largely disappeared. Yes, his positivity can be frustrating especially when he talks up a poor performance or result. But that’s the man he is that’s his manner and personality…..just as Moyes was dour and generally pretty depressing to listen to even after a fine performance. I know who I’d rather watch and listen to! That goes for on the park as well…..often dour workman like stability from Moyes or attempt to play School of Science football under Martinez. You don’t have to look to far to see that change in management style has drifted right through the club. Players and staff look genuinely happy to be at Everton Football Club. This positive attitude has filtered through to the press who in all honesty have been giving us a fair crack of the whip in terms of spreading the word of our great club. It’s this attitude and foundation that attracts quality players and personnel to want to play and be a part of Everton Football Club and I think you’re a fool to underestimate it’s importance. I’m the first (as many of you will know) to be jumping up and down at the dropping of points especially against the lower teams but I’m also realistic. We dropped points against Spurs who have a great squad and it was at White Hart Lane. They’ve picked up a new manager who had great success at Southampton and had them playing attractive attacking football within a very strict budget. Yet, even so he’s struggling to get consistency from a very good Spurs squad. The reality is that managing an EPL team is very different than to Football Manager which for all intents and purposes has made many fans think theyve the skills to advise and preach what should be done just because they took Kidderminster Harriers from the conference league to the EPL in 10 seasons! The reality is they’re delusional but they just don’t see it…..Men in white coats and a straight jacket come to mind…. Sure it would have been better to win and maybe we could and should have but the team are playing more games and we’ve been very unlucky with injuries this season which doesn’t help when you’ve got a small squad. It’s always easy in hindsight to say we should have done this, we should have done that , we should have played blah blah but I, like many others are aware it’s a way of releasing frustration….annoyance….that the club that we all love so much has ruined the start of our week. (Well it does for me). That’s because we’re passionate “We’re Everton aren’t we”!!! But in saying that I can’t understand or abide the over the top knee jerk reactions of some “fans” and their verbal and overly negative attacks on the Manager and certain players for example Besic should be put on a bus and driven over the nearest cliff? Seriously get a grip! The lad is young and it’s his first season in the EPL which has broken many a quality player. How about you give him a chance to settle in….a season or 2 at the very least before you throw him or any other young player onto the scrap heap??? Sometimes I’m left to shake my head and wonder because you’re the “fans” that would have had Howard Kendall’s head on a spike because the young team he’d assembled was shit….the tactics were shit…..team was shit…..we’re playing shit…..we’re getting thumped by the Redshit! If they had had their way then we wouldn’t have seen the Everton team of the 80’s ripping teams and the league apart. So, yes we didn’t play well…..yes, we dropped 3 points….but how about we accept that we’re not unbeatable yet and that good things come to those that wait or should that be patient. Everton Football Club are a work in progress and I, for one, think that were slowly inching our way back to our rightful place amongst the elite. Bring on Hull City!! COYB ETID
