We measure the value of things by the price we must pay to obtain them, whether it be a car, a house, a loaf of bread, etc. But have you ever stopped to consider what we are worth? Consider the price that was paid to redeem us. To redeem something is to buy it back, such as redeeming something from a pawn shop. There is a price to pay to redeem it. When I was lost in my sins, God sent His Son to redeem me. What was the price that Jesus paid? He paid it all. He suffered a cruel death by crucifixion and shed His last drop of blood to save me from my sins. We are bought with a price! Paul reasons that since we are bought with a price, we should glorify God in our body, and in our spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:20 – “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
