We met the nicest family today in the checkout line at the grocery store. They started the conversation by asking Matt about his (one of many) Metallica shirts. The mom said, My daughter responded to metal music before she could ever say actual words by humming along. (Shes pointing at her 8 year old daughter whos in a stroller, stimming and humming while staring at Matts shirt.) Matt looked at the lady and said, Its ok because I have Autism too, but Im high-functioning now! The lady looked rather surprised, like How did he know she has Autism???, so then, of course, she and I start chatting up a storm and I started talking to her daughter, Mia, who is this adorable little girl that loves rock music!!! I love how Matt connected with them and understood her! It was amazing!!!
