We met with the doctor this morning, and our son Charlie was - TopicsExpress

We met with the doctor this morning, and our son Charlie was conferenced in. There are 3 options: 1.). Remove the existing hardware, leave it out for a few months and try and treat this with antibiotics. Only part of the infection would be removed, and the odds are that I would have a reoccurrence. Also, if I throw an embolism while on the table, ethically theyll have to open my chest up to save me, instead of just letting me go. 2.) Open heart surgery. It would mean going through it again, this time they actually open the heart, remove the endocarditis, pull the leads out from the inside of the heart, and replace the tricuspid valve. This will not go without complications if I can even survive it. Because Im a diabetic and have suffered kidney failure before, if I do survive the surgery, Ill be on dialysis - possibly for the rest of my life. We will consult further with a cardiovascular surgeon. 3.) Do nothing and let nature take its course. Obviously no decision was made today, and one will not be made until we get more info from the surgeon. Once again, please pray that God gives us the wisdom to make the right decision, and the strength and courage to stand up under His Will. God Bless.
