We met with the surgeon yesterday. As you know Sienna will be having major surgery on Tuesday the minimum number of hours she will be down for is 6 but we have been told it will possibly be much longer due to how close to the main organs and blood vessels it is. We know there is also a possibility of the loss of the left kidney but from the scans the right kidney should be able to manage on its own. Listening to what she has to go through was too much for me and Im really struggling. She will be having an epidural, her bowel will have to be moved and will be inactive for a few days so she wont be ableto have anything orally for a few days, she will bring up green bile afterwards and will be on morphine. She will have have a cut from the left side of her tummy right the way across to her right side. The tumour will have to be scraped off her aorta and the other thing they have seen under her diaphragm will be felt to see what they can feel but wont be take away as that means opening her chest which is extremely risky and they would only do that if the primary tumour they are taking away is still active. Her heart is in a stable way for surgery due to the medication she is on but it really doesnt stop me worrying. We have been told to prepare ourselves for when we see her after surgery. She will go straight to PICU (paediatric intensive care unit). Talking with the surgeon and it was advised that we mention why she is going in so its not such a shock. I sat with her last night and we were playing with her dolly and we got onto the stay in hospital next week. I told her that she would be having magic medicine that would send her to sleep where she would go to princess land and that the bubble in her tummy that is making her poorly will be taken away so that she can be better.... Holding back the tears as I was telling her was hard but when she started crying it became too much. More than anything sienna needs prayers right now to get through this because although she is a fighter shes starting to get tired and fed up of it all. Cancers taken so much of Siennas life away from her, its taken and destroyed so much and I hope that when this tumour is taken out it is as dead as I feel inside. Xxx
