We might just be religious (in the bad Pharisaical sense) if we - TopicsExpress

We might just be religious (in the bad Pharisaical sense) if we think we have the high ground over others. This high ground can be moral, social, intellectual, theological, or spiritual high ground. There really is no high ground for the spiritual man or woman. Why? Because once the righteous reach what they perceive to be high ground, they immediately surrender it to the low-landers: the foolish, the needy, the crushed, the blind, the deceived. Jesus surrendered every inch of His high ground of His divinity when He came as a babe in swaddling clothes, when He washed His followers feet, and when He bore our sins at the cross. I think we need to stop celebrating the high ground we think weve reached and start surrendering it to others in servant-hood and healing. Freely we have received. Freely we give. The real high ground is at the feet of others.
