We must retain EARLY CHILDHOOD integrity! These early learning years are vital to the development of lifelong learning. Standardized testing is NOT the most accurate way to asses children under age 6. It can be used as ONE tool in the toolbox but a portfolio of a childs early years which contains milestones - physical, social, emotional and academic - gives us a much better picture of what a child knows. Allowing children to play is to allow them to explore, think critically, and try out language. Play is perfectly acceptable & developmentally appropriate way to learn. Please dont lay the blame of lack of success in later grades on the backs of our youngest citizens and take away their childhoods.
