We must see the devotion to Srila Prabhupad in all his followers. It does not take direct association with him to become a pure devotee because by following his instructions, vani, afar, with care, we see so many devotees, including Prabhus and Matajis have done such nice service in the mission of Lord Chaitanya. That said, it is a special chance, a difficult chance at that, to be so close to Srila Prabhupad and to understand his moods. There is no one description of observation that will describe how to understand his point. But the chance is to see how he personally behaved and instructed and get an "all around" understanding, directly from him, how to apply what he did and said. So those like me who were personally recruited by Srila Prabhupad to work under him should never have a grain of pride about that chance. In fact the more we were close to him the more we will appreciate the often much much greater devotion to Srila Prabhupad in our other godbrothers, godsisters (yes sisters even sometimes more than the brothers have devotion) and the grandchildren and so on. We see how they are so devoted, so eager to hear any little thing said about him. In turn those who served and are serving in seperation from afar can learn something special from those who served directly. It is like Sri Krishna and Sri Chaitanya. We can read Bhagavad Gita as the perfect book, or Nectar of Devotion. But we can also study the life pastimes of Sri Krishna in Krishna book or of Sri Chaitanya in the TLC of CC pastimes. Two different sides, vapu and vani both important. Both so nice. Through the vapu the vani becomes more deeply understood.
