We need affordable electricity! Being for coal does not make me against alternative energy. This train of thought is tough for the Only 2 Option crowd ... but is possible. The right approach is to invest in technology (not corporate handouts) in alternative energy through science at Universities in partnership with private companies. Direct handouts to wind companies was a massive mistake and delayed advancement of the technology we need as the money was wasted on companies that no longer exist. Im very interested in wind when it competes on a non-subsidized stand-alone basis. The affordability is growing rapidly every day. However....abundance, affordability, and reliability still remain. We will succed with abundant, affordable and reliable efforts with a continued focus on technological advancement. Now is not the time for a dramatic mandated transition. We need coal for affordable electricity for businesses and families. Lets work hard at home on energy efficiency to be excellent stewards of our resources. At the same time, lets not be foolish by mandating an overnight unaffordable change that will be a burden on families and hurt business. We need affordable electricity!
