We need more universities in Kerala. Working load at University head quarters, in particular MGU and Calicut, is too much which results in delay in anything that is related to the university, examination results, appointment notice and what not. Calicut university, the largest in Kerala in terms of geographical area, needs to be divided into at least two- this will reduce bureaucratic red tape at the university head quarters. Similar is the case with M.G university. Immediate solution is that raise the status of Maharajas college EKM to the university level and affiliate all colleges in EKM districts excluding MVPA taluk, and Chalakkudy and Kodungalloor taluks in Thrissur district under it. Similarly Victoria college Palakkad should be made a university and affiliate all colleges in Palakkad and remaining parts of Thrissur district under it.
