We need our membership’s help in fighting proposed federal - TopicsExpress

We need our membership’s help in fighting proposed federal regulations that would cause much higher energy costs. This isn’t about politics. It’s about keeping electric rates affordable. The EPA has proposed regulations to control emissions at our nation’s power plants, especially coal-fired generators. The current administration claims it supports an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy. While United Cooperative Services and the nation’s other 900 electric cooperatives have been leaders in supporting an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy, the EPA’s proposed regulations are in conflict with the administration’s purported support of an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy. It appears the administration supports “all-but-ONE,” specifically coal-fired generation. If these EPA regulations are approved, our membership’s electric rates will assuredly see an unnecessary increase, which could cripple families already having a difficult time making ends meet. United’s power supplier has clean, reliable coal-fired plants in its generation portfolio, which have been essential in keeping the cooperative’s rates affordable. Those plants would be affected by these unwarranted regulations. You can help. Your family and friends can help. Please follow this link (action.coop) and fill out the form to tell the EPA to stick by the Administration’s “all-of-the-above” energy promise. Best regards, United Cooperative Services
