We need to learn to break free from the restrictions that bind us--the internal stop signs and the narrow expectations of others. Accomplishment in any form requires that we know when to buck convention and find more creative solutions. This improvisational style calls for a certain daring, which African-Americans have exhibited in countless ways over the years. We have flouted convention and put our personal stamp on science, athletics, music, and literature. To put our own style into all the things we do, we just need to dare!
