We not only want God, we want him as he truly is, and on his terms. Therefore we are mindful of the insight provided by D. Bonhoeffer—“If it is I who say where God will be, I will always find there a [false] God who … corresponds to me, is agreeable to me. But if it is God who says where he will be … that place is the cross of Christ.” I forgot who said it but, I agree that, God made man in his image, and so every now and then man decides to return the favor. Lol! Note to self: Do not do God any favors! He is the potter, and I am the clay. Lead me to the cross Lord, and may I remain there until you come get me.
