We now continue our tour and stand at the base of Eckert Ave at Perkiomen Ave. to the left we see Kesher Zion Synagogue which partially exist on land that was originally the Eckert property which is where the street gets its name. To the right, we see this stylish early 20th century brick home. Built in a neighborhood of mostly late 19th century Victorian residences, this property spoke to the future of the incoming taste in home design. Less decorative ornamentation on the exterior facade along with the interior would become the new norm. The post card image shows the variety of homes along the steep pitch of this block of Eckert Ave. Many people who drive down this street for the first time say it reminds them of the streets in San Francisco.
