We now have permission to remain open in the evenings, having submitted our management plan to the Lake District National Park Authority. But of course we cant actually do that until we get more staff, and thats not easy at this time of year! But with later opening comes responsibilities that we need to comply with. The condition imposed upon us is unheard of in any Lake District business other than large tourist attractions and, via Allerdale Borough Council, licensed premises. Weve put up temporary signage, inside and out, but thatll be replaced by something more permanent, and better looking, soon. Basically; we just need to be aware that were in a residential area and we all need to try and minimise noise outside the cafe building, particularly when leaving late in the evening. Quite simple really, and if you do forget and make a bit of noise our staff will politely remind you to turn it down. Im sure everyone will do their best and not let all our other customers down. And to ensure that we are not blamed for any rowdiness from customers leaving the pub, or perhaps just passers by, an external CCTV system is getting fitted. Thanks all.
