We of the Alternative Force receive with rude shock the news making round ascribing supernatural forces or witches to the ill-fated plane crash of Thursday in Lagos in which some eminent and hardworking Nigerians died. We consider it nationally unfortunate that in the 21st Century and despite the development of aerodynamics, Nigerians like Fani Kayode can be talking of Satan or whatever forces as being responsible for the crash. Some even went further claiming that the deceased (Agagu who washing conveyed in the plane) was so powerful that some people must be sacrificed with him. An aircraft is a mechanical contraption and as such, must first be viewed from that angle. The plane we were told is 23years old. It came down from the sky when it engines failed. Maybe it was a mechanical issue or pilot error or management failure or coincidence of occurrence (time and chance). We will never grow as a people if we keep ascribing simple mechanical issue to some forces. At least we can rule out weather in this case. We should rather await the investigation by the experts rather than have some emotional journalists and bloggers and jobless people say what they do not see. It is also worrisome that in this age, aircraft manifest is still being handwritten. This is a shame to all labour unions who are simply concerned with salaries without corresponding service to justify the salaries.Without Finally, we thought Nigerians should have known that best practices demands that the families of the victims be contacted first before their names are made public. No one would love to hear of the death if his/her loved ones during network news.
