We often blame a piece of land that has nothing to do with the way - TopicsExpress

We often blame a piece of land that has nothing to do with the way we think and behave as a people. As individual Haitian many of us are more than just great, many of us are; talented, witty, well-mannered, skilled or have the crave for constant learning, but we should also admit that collectively we suck as a people. Culturally we are like crabs in an open bag where none of us can actually see the light of the day simply because the other crabs wont permit our escape. However, there are some of us from the crab family who recognize this cultural chronicle behavior and are at least trying to learn from it by breaking this mindset and be a better Haitian citizen, which in turn will reflect on the whole nation. We all grew up in a culture that didnt teach us how to appreciate other Haitians skills, intellect and value each others talent. Instead the majority of us have developed the notion of jealousy, frustration and anger, which has lead many of us to an inferiority complex in some aspect. Many of us focus so much and envy the next guy for his/her talent or his/her wealth to the point many of us forget to find out the latent talent that many of us may have. Many Haitians have never been taught to admire, to praise, to encourage, to appreciate or value our own or things we have produced ourselves. We have grown to learn or to have the tendency of valorizing what is not ours or others from foreign countries. Note that this writing is not about blaming, but rather pointing out the truth that each and everyone of us know exists in the mindset or our very core. If one interviews every Haitian citizen individually one would with no doubt realize that Haitians know of their own problems, but they just cant collectively find the solution. Haitians have gone around in the world to do great things when they team up with non-Haitians, but many can never accomplish much when they partner up with their own kinds. Therefore, we know it is not skills or knowledge lack thereof amongst them as it is merely an enslaved mindset problem or attitude. In the attached video clips you will be able to scrutinize yourselves the point that I making in all that I am saying in terms of talents, skill and the desire to do or create. It is the lack of unity that continues to hinder all the efforts and the willingness to be victorious. Many of us want to emerge from the bag of crabs, but the evil force of the bags gravity appears to be much more powerful than the desire to succeed or the hard work of so many amongst the crabs. The day we learn how to love fellow citizens for their talent, their hard work, their skills and their intellect will be the day that we will all start to shine as a nation as their victory will reflect on the nation as a whole. We the people are Haiti, not the land who is just a location of our birth. We represent Haiti in the everyday things that we do and its respect depends on the image that we project around the world and the way we interact with the world or people we meet. Our behavior at work or in public places dictates who Haitians are and therefore it can either motivate foreigners to know about us or turn them off completely about ever visiting Haiti. There must be some logical reason as to why many Haitians dont want some foreigners to know that they are from Haiti where a few others are very proud to advertise that they are Haitians. Perhaps we are all aware of the internal cancer that are tearing us apart from one another. Its been 200 plus years and many of us have acquired enough knowledge in order to find the cure for this chronic disease that brought so much division amongst us all. Politicians should feel the utmost necessity to educate the citizen of Haiti in order to preserve the freedom of the first black republic instead of oppressing and limiting their knowledge. Our forefathers would have been prouder of a well educated nation instead of constant politicians who have pledged to hinder its development. As a nation we have shown enough failure for it is time to show a different way of reasoning in order to advance. Being the host of On Camera in the attached report I had the utmost respect and pleasure to introduce one of our very own Mr. Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine to many of my fellow Haitian citizens along with his dance partner Liana Churilova in their astonishing performances at the Boston International Dance Showcase at The Lantana in Randolph Massachusetts on Saturday August 16, 2014. Emmanuel is to be admired and applauded for his style, his talent and his continuous discipline as one of us and for being a champion on an international level. People like Emmanuel should make us proud as his positiveness will always reflect on all of us and the nation altogether. If we honestly support one another by any means necessary there wont be any reason why the name of Haiti wont be amongst the bests. It is time that we let the world know us for positive things and the unification emblem that floats in our flag instead of the continuous stigma that has always been attached with our name in every angle. Let us cherish our own products, let us celebrate one another and give the push to those who can go far in representing Haiti or all of us with confidence and dignity. My job as a fellow citizen is done here in term of presenting Mr. Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine to all fellow Haitians and the rest of the world who didnt know him yet and that there are great talents in Haiti. Now if you feel the same way about Mr. Pierre-Antoine you will do the same by sharing this video to everyone in your circle and ask them to do the same. We must love him and be proud of him for his talent and also because he is representing all of us with a positive image. What is a country without its proud citizens? You tell me. -Widmack Belot. PS.
