We often wrestle with this dilemma....not building up false hope for the owners of missing pets while trying to put them at ease. Most missing pets do get back home.....way more than are never found. Many are found before they even get posted. If you have a missing pets odds are always in your favor. We feel incredibly bad when a missing pet is not located. Not because of any fault of our own, but because we can only imagine the feeling of hopelessness and loss. Sometimes we feel like telling people the worse than can happen so as not to watch them get let down if the pet is not recovered. But, ethically we KNOW that the as the majority of missing pets are or may get recovered and do not want people to suffer anymore than they have to while waiting for a missing pet to return. Although it is not a perfect policy we do try to be as positive as possible for the following reasons: -in most cases being positive pays off -positive owners and others helping them GREATLY improves results -if we can ease someones suffering we believe it is worth the effort. Even though it may be a let down for some....worrying any more than necessary probably would not have done any good anyway. -keep in mind we do not state anything UNLESS we honestly believe it ourselves. -many owners believe their dog or cat is in a lot more danger than it actually is. Sadly bad things can happen BUT more often than not the pet is not in as much danger as thought. That does not mean that a missing pet does not require immediate action to get it home, but panic and fear based on a lack of facts or knowledge only stresses people more than is necessary., The bottom line again is ANYTHING can happen but odds are in your favor when it comes to getting a pet back with or without our help.
