We ought not tolerate false information, destructive and corrosive ideas and ideologies. Tolerating all of this is precisely what leads to the kinds of overgrown cultures that champion ignorance and non-virtues such as faith. We should never tolerate what is destructive to civil rights and reason. Should we tolerate rape? Should we tolerate misogyny? Should we tolerate slavery? Should we tolerate the oppression of equality for women and gay people? No? Then why tolerate a book or a doctrine which encourages and even commands these repugnant practices? Im angry, and my anger is 100% justified. Its not a bad thing to be angry. My anger is what drives me to do my part in creating a better world where no gay person is oppressed, and where no woman suffers from inequality or abuses because they are permitted within a largely theological culture, where nobody is a slave, where no witches are burned alive. I want to see a culture where reason and science is hailed, and superstition becomes what it is -- our ignorant past. I want to see mankind flourish, not suffer from fear and ignorance. I will always object to what is irrational, dead wrong, and causes harm to others and humanity abroad. -Brad
