The organizer of the meeting – The Świętokrzyskie Center of Teachers Training – had chosen the subjects and invited those educators, who have an experience in forming the basis of tolerance and the openness to different cultures, acceptation of different cultures, religions and views. Lecia Brooks from USA – the director of Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama – gave a speech on her organization’s activities in conducting educational programs that teach the tolerance and about the racial, social and cultural barriers, which should be broke down, in schools. She had noticed that even though Poland is a rather consistent (religiously and culturally) country, teachers try to flash forward and to realize the subject. She had also introduced the current American experiences. Ewa Bobińska – a coordinator of Polish nationwide program ‘Preserve the memory. History and culture of two nations’ from the Center of Education Development in Warsaw – mentioned the evolution of project ‘Preserve the memory’ toward the direct meetings of young people from Poland and Israel. The Center of Education Development in Warsaw had realized 40 different projects involving about 5.000 teachers. The organizer of the conference was Świętokrzyskie Center of Teachers Training, with the support of National Museum in Kielce and the Local Center of Teachers Training ‘WOM’ in Katowice and in partnership with the General Consulate of USA in Cracow. swietokrzyskisztetl.pl/en/news/179,we_participated_in_a_conference_on_forming_the_basis_of_tolerance.html
