We probably just expected way too much, The movie was good, but not brilliant. Kicking off from a clever beginning where you almost know hes going to run away, The movie doesnt actually capture your attention till the story of the village is revealed, The interval block was brilliantly shot and it was only a matter of time till he began to retaliate. The screenplay leant more towards pointing out blunders in the society and while that is absolutely fine and true, it left certain lags in the story-telling. In retrospect, I began to wonder why there was a need for a dual role in the film. The cause which the protagonist fought for was of absolute importance. The coin fight is a one of its kind and is probably one of the best sequences in the history of Tamil cinema. The BGM was mind-blowing and Im still tripping on selfie pulla. The final installment of the second half was definitely stretched beyond proportion. Vijay is seen in the best performance of his career. All in all, the movie was ok, But it couldve been much much much better! A quick and engaging screenplay is a necessity! Not a choice... I couldnt help but type this out, was getting too restless. P.S. This is strictly my individual opinion.
