We produced a video explaining what the 3D modeling of the Cowboy Cabin actually gives you and lets you do as well as how to use it with the FREE version of Sketch Up. This incredible tool that Mackey created actually lets you go through every layer of construction and see it in extreme detail from any angle. That means the floor construction all the way to the roof, the cabinets inside, and both versions, the Bastrop Cabin with the tub and downstairs daybed as well as the Cowboy Cabin with the shower and storage /reading nook at that end of the house. The biggest advantage for first time builders is that this will let you actually walk through the house and add or remove layers, like the interior wall skins to see what is behind them, the siding, and much more. Effectively, because they are sequenced just like we build the houses, you can walk through the construction sequence with detailed 3D guidance that makes it an elementary process to simply duplicate what you see at each level. For many who have never built a house the way we do, which is different than anyone out there I know of starting with the bottom framework, you will learn more from the walkthrough than from any carpenter who has only been building new construction for the last 30-40 years. This video is a tutorial on how to use the 3D plans and in watching it I do believe you will see why and how it will make your life easier when i comes to building this house. Actually, any of our houses will be easier to build if you have this sort of Do-It-Yourself guidance tool, as if you were here on site getting to see in detail the sequence and method we use. I have spent 8 years developing these building techniques so that my houses can be loaded on a trailer and be transported, jacked up with only 4 jacks on the corners so the trailer can be driven out from under, or picked up with just two straps by a crane and put on the side of a cliff if you choose. They do not bend and the porch roofs will fold down for transport and unfold when you get there so that you can simply bolt on the porch floor, add the posts back into their positions, and let the roof down on them to be screwed together. No one in the very limited world of Tiny Houses creates anything close to what you will see on this video and learn how to build with this 3D Plan set. Since Sketch Up is a Free Program you can download for the purposes of opening and using this plan, you can hand it off to your friends who want to help and they can study it before you get started. Once you learn the technique, you can start creating your own versions of my Tiny Texas Houses and know you have a house that will last long enough for someone to fold it up and take it down the road one day if you should want to sell it but keep your land for the new version you build later. Here it is..... the tutorial and answers to how you are going to learn to build one of my houses without coming to Texas for a seminar. We will have follow up videos that show this in real life and you will be able to follow along knowing you are seeing what you might not see in a video and definitely not on just a flat sheet of paper. youtube/watch?v=J513qlyQBMQ
