We ran this story the other day. County Council votes on Wednesday 12/3! We need more signatures on the petition to make sure council doesnt change a thing! New staff is FANTASTIC AND successful! Please share! EMERGENCY INPUT NEEDED! They want to have the Sheriff’s department take animal cruelty back over in this community? When ran by Sheriff’s office DOGS WERE SHOT! USED FOR TARGET PRACTICE! THESE ANIMALS NEED YOUR VOICE! THREE YEARS AGO this shelter was shut down because of this horrific mismanagement! They were using dogs as TARGET PRACTICE!!!! This happened under the Sheriff department’s control and they had a kill rate of 98% . Yes that means they killed 98% of all animals that came into the shelter! FAST FORWARD TO NOW. No longer under the direction of the Sheriff’s department and due to the amazing director and staff and hundreds of rescues and volunteers they SAVE over 92% of the animals that come through that door! AND WE NEED TO KEEP THE CURRENT STAFF AS IS DOING A GREAT JOB! So you ask, why does the Sheriff’s department want it back? Good question! Money? Greed? Politics? BUT WE NEED YOUR VOICE TO MAKE SURE COUNCIL VOTES NO! County Council for Chesterfield County SC will be voting on this issue at the council meeting on December 3rd! There isnt any good reason on Earth for these poor animals in that poor county to go back to this! We need people like the staff who are already there to keep enforcing the cruelty laws ( finally) and Please let the county council know they need to do the right thing here and VOTE NO to giving it back to the Sheriff’s department!
