We really appreciate inclusion in this article by Sharne Wolff | art+words amongst so many visual arts venues/proponents in Northern Rivers who we respect. There is never enough room in articles such as this to mention everyone and all of advocates, groups and collectives who do so much to mentor and promote local visual artists and local arts endeavours, especially in an article focussed on galleries and highlights. We know (or know of) a few of other worthwhile mentions though - Nimbin Artists Gallery, Blue Knob Hall Gallery, Serpentine Community Gallery Inc, Art Aspects Gallery, Curious Art Gallery, Ukitopia ArtsCollective, Ms Browns Lounge and the Lismore Art Space. There are heaps more as well from the Tweed to Grafton! Perhaps its not a visual arts venue - although it can be sometimes - Arts Northern Rivers at Alstonville continues to do so much for local artists and craftspeople, not least with the number of pop-up galleries that they have initiated throughout centres in Northern Rivers duringt the past year, and associated exhibitions that they have curated. Sharnes article really drives the idea that there is so much artistically to engage with in this region - and maybe a drive out of Byron is a good idea! The artistic and creative diversity is amazing and expressed in all sorts of ways in all sorts of venues in this place. Its something to be celebrated and something that we should all be advocates for. It also requires our continued critical engagement, encouragement of experimentation and mentorship of the development of excellence. Thanks so much, Sharne for your article. Let there be more!
