We really need bigger tags on smaller sharks. (sharkasm). Seriously, can we start to reduce the size of these or at least only deploy them on fully grown species? This may not seem a big deal, but when you look at the physiology of sharks, they are dependent upon a finely tuned anatomy for success. In other words, take two identical sports cars and then lets strap a recliner on top of one of them. Which vehicle do you think will perform better? Sorry if this seems overly dramatic, but how do we justify deploying large tags on small fish? Put it a different way, the prey of mako sharks have very similar detection systems on them and ruining the fluid dynamics on them can cause severe impairment...additionally, large devices like this on smaller sharks can affect their behavior due to compensation. My opinion anyway. What do you guys think?
