We received a call from the owner of the missing or stolen cat and found out that the cat in question was 6+ years of age and was well cared for. The cat Frost-Tip that was brought into the shelter was estimated at 11 months old or at most a year and a half. Frost-Tip was in very bad condition and was starving and freezing, hence the name Frost-Tip. We believe that these are two completely different cats as does the owner of the cat that was unfortunately lost or stolen. If by chance, you lose a cat please contact us because once the cat or kitten is spayed/neutered and vaccinated it becomes our responsibility. We put each cat in quarantine for 7 to 10 days to check its health and wait to see if an owner contacts us, which sadly is rarely the case. Then the Gananoque & District Humane Society has the animal spayed or neutered, which we pay for. We then post the cat on our website and people are welcome to call, email us or stop by the shelter to report a missing animal. We are an all volunteer shelter doing the best we can and saving as many lives as possible. If an animal comes to our shelter in need, we will do everything to take care of that animal and find it a forever home because we are the Gananoque & District Humane Society and that is what we do.
