We received the results of Roccos biopsies and we have mixed news. The “tumors” or nodules were not cancer (good news) and appear to be sterile granuloma or pyogranuloma syndrome. This is the bodies way of encapsulating a foreign body or microorganism and these are related to the breakouts. The breakout sites seem to be Demodicosis but are lacking the other signs of Demodicosis such as folliculitis and the Demodex mites that are also normally present in such cases. All this comes down to a likelihood of an immune dysfunction (not so good) possibly due to an allergy of some kind. There are a number of treatment options but we are going with prednisone (steroid) first and a blood sample was taken to be sent out for allergy analysis. His biopsy sites are healing well and the sutures were removed today. In the meantime Rocco is tending to important things like playing!
