We received this yesterday from an East Brunswick Football Player, a friend of Jeffreys. Hearing and seeing just how much Jeffrey impacted peoples lives brings us such great pleasure and happiness. Those are the things that help us get through each day. I was so honored to receive this letter that I had to share it with all of your. It touched us so much. I keep reading it over and over again. .................. Jeff, Kim, and Ryan, As you know, the Snapple Bowl is this Thursday and I hope that you will be there to watch us beat up on Union County! We are all very excited to play and are honored to represent our county in the game but I just wanted to let you know what I will be playing for. On the day of Jeffs wake I promised big Jeff that I would put one in the end zone for # 7 in that game and I am going to do all I can to make that possible. I wont be getting the chance to play running back but I am hoping for a pick six from the safety position. Upon starting practice last Monday, I have been playing some of the best football of my life. I feel explosive, fast and powerful and I cant help but think that someone up there is looking out for me and is giving me a little something extra and I hope that he will be with me the night of the big game. Ever since that terrible day, I have changed many things about myself and my way of thinking and have tried to mirror the way Jeff always lived his life. Like you once told me Kim, Jeff lived every moment to the fullest and never took anything for granted. I have tried to be a better older brother to my sisters and have been spending more time with my family and those close to me as a result of this. In this game I will play my heart out every snap and will do so every game I play in college for any given play can be my last. I have learned that life isnt fair and doesn’t ever give you a warning so I strive to live regret free and never take anything for granted just like Jeff. I try to be a leader and inspire those around me to be a better player or person just like Jeff. I hope you will read this and find joy in the life Jeff lived and how he has affected me in my life. When I get out there on Thursday night I will surely be playing with you all in mind and will try my best to keep my promise. I will be honored to have the number seven on my helmet and when I eventually return it to my coach, that number 7 will always remain in my heart. Be well and I will see you soon.
