We recently handed out a few extra hot dog buns, oranges, and fresh cucumbers (straight from one of our amazing volunteers gardens) to our LoL families this past week. Here is what one of our LoL moms had to say...... Thank you, dear LoL volunteers, for being the reason my kids look forward to summer! Before LoL, my kids were never excited for summer to begin because of the many changes they faced. They always asked me if we would have food for breakfast, lunch or supper. My oldest child knows its hard on my one income to make ends meet and always volunteers to skip a meal when needed. When my kids are home for weeks on end without school lunches - we struggle. We have been homeless twice in the past 4 years because I chose food for my kids over paying bills. Since we moved into our new school/apartment, we started receiving your life saving lunches. My children brought home a fresh cucumber, oranges and hot dog buns last week and I wish you could have seen their faces when telling me about their extra treats. They waited until I got home to eat them because they wanted to share their joy. Fresh food is always a treat to my 3 kids. Thank you for giving me the peace of mind knowing I do not have to choose bills over food and that my family will be able to stay together under one roof. Lunches of Love has given my kids a new love for summer break and they now have peace of mind knowing they have good food waiting for them each day. Thank you for caring about my family and the other children here in this blessed community. You have changed our lives and our outlook.
