We recently have heard reports of a scam targeting East Hartford business customers. These people are claiming to be CL&P representatives and informing customers that they have overdue account balances and that their power will be shut off unless they make immediate payment through a Green Dot debit card or other means of payment. If you receive a call from anyone stating they are from CL&P and request payment under these circumstances, DO NOT give them any account or financial information. Please call CL&P Customer Service immediately at 1-800-286-2000 to confirm the status of your account, as well as your local law enforcement to report the scam incident.
