We recently ran a story about Facebook shutting down the “Patriot Truckers’” Facebook page, titled “Facebook Shuts Down Truckers’ Page; On Their Way To D.C. Anyway”. The group, who is planning on “shutting down America” by not running their delivery routes October 11-13, and many of whom plan to descend on the nation’s capital, has allegedly been banned because of using the phrase, “In God We Trust.” However, as a response to the “Fascistbook” shut down, the truckers are now planning on, you guessed it, shutting down Facebook! They may even file a lawsuit against the world’s largest social networking site. One of the Patriot Trucker’s group members, who goes by the handle “truckershutdown” sent out an email with a press release recently in which he (or she) wrote: “Facebook shutdown our Truckers to Shutdown America page; cutting off millions of people from learning, sharing and expressing themselves freely. Facebook responded INSTANTANEOUSLY to our political opponents, citing “Community Standards” violations. On October 11th-13th, let’s all show up on Facebook’s doorstep with our original “Community Standards” in hand — our U.S. Constitution. Let’s also let them know that we intend to file a Class Action lawsuit on behalf of their billions of users for intentionally violating our god-given rights.” As the tension builds in the U.S. between an ever restless and irritable populace and a seemingly over-reaching government that seems to be ignoring that restlessness and irritability, we can only wait and see what happens in mid-October.
