We returned home in the early hours of Saturday morning... Our pan European adventure over for 2014, The Italian leg of our journey held much promise and in driving terms did not fail to deliver, our little Spider eating up the miles and handling everything we could throw at it.... visits to Monaco, Volterra & Assisi all memorable and may well form part of a return visit in the future. Bitter sweet however was the declining organisation of the event, many people we spoke to shared the same views around camp sites not being prepared for the arrival of 52 cars & three motorcycles, maybe some of the monies could have been used to carry out a fact finding trip by the event organizer? in order that on arrival the majority would have been satisfied with their lot, instead it seemed to turn into a bit of a race to see who could upgrade their accommodation before the masses arrived. To be informed several days from the end of the trip that their would not be a Hotel in Rome for one night booked and on arrival in Rome find that we had been allocated a Prefab tent was the final straw of several let downs along the way, fairly sure the event organizer would agree and I have to say he did at times look to put things right. As I have said in a previous update Much more research would be undertaken should we buy in to a similar experience in the future, I will be giving a little time to see if there is any contact prior to taking anything further. We left Rome as quickly as we arrived, heading north to the picturesque Florence, winding down for the evening and doing a little shopping at the busy markets in the morning, Our Day 11 took us via Modena on-wards to beautiful Lake Garda where I bravely popped the question to my Co Pilot Yvonne... happily she said Yes Si Yes. Our Day 12/13 was long as we set off through the Dolomites, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, England and on-wards to home... North of 1300 miles and two very tired bodies. Germany threw the craziest of weather at us, from the first few miles in we had to put the roof up on the Spider, Electric Storms raged over us for 100 mile after 100 mile all the way into Holland where it continued... both disappointed with what Amsterdam had to offer we decided to head for home. Many pics and videos will follow over the next few days...
