We saw some great guesses about what the crazy looking contraption we posted a picture of earlier might be! This device is called a fish attractor, and it will help improve habitats for the 300 lbs. of fish that were recently relocated from Patriot Lake and Jones Pond. How does it help? Fish need shade, and because there are predator and prey species in the lakes, they need places to hide and seek. In addition to the fish attractors, well be sinking a few cedar logs in the lakes to provide additional shade. While you wont see changes to the lake surfaces, our fish populations will be enjoying new-found shade under water!
