We saw the film, THE SIGNAL as an amazon download. My youngest son, in his 20s, recommended it, and thats significant. He identifies with the young people in it, lured by an internet signal to a remove place in Nevada, only to find secret bases, frightening implications of extraterrestrials and clinical horror. It is to some extent how the brighter kids of his generation view the world they were born into. Sometimes a movie has a theme its film makers doesnt know it has. This one is about a fear of what we might be becoming--but I dont think the director knew that. What the movie has going for it is the directors capability of inducing paranoia, a real feeling of dread--this dissolves somewhat after the first two acts. The third is interesting, if somewhat absurd, and the ending is... well, you decide, if you see it. THE SIGNAL doesnt entirely work, but its an interesting exercise and a worthwhile rental or viewing on cable, for fans of horror and science fiction.
