We see the same principle when the children of Israel came into - TopicsExpress

We see the same principle when the children of Israel came into the promised land and the first city, Jericho, was devoted to God and nothing in it was to be taken or kept personally - it was the Lords, and was their tithe of the promised land. We also see what happened to Achan who did keep some of the spoils for himself ~ it cost him his life and the lives of his family ~ the curse. While God wont require your life today for not tithing, (whew!) you must understand it will open the door for the curse to operate, and I think you would agree with me that we do not need to aid these tough times with a self-induced curse. Although, the devil will appreciate your help! I call tithing the principle of the first. Giving to God the first part, a tenth of every dollar. Its His, not mine and He trusts me to use my faith, giving me the opportunity to be obedient and return it to Him. When I do, He responds with the promised blessing! Its the greatest investment one can make, better than any stocks, bonds, or the best insurance that money can buy. But tithing is not about what we can get from God, it is in fact a condition of the heart, one of deep honor and love for our God and what He has done for us. Its a recognition of the fact that all we are, all we have is His. Tithing fuels the Gospel to go through the world which brings about the fruit of lives reborn.
