We sent this out last night but in case you missed it—here it is on the digest! ===================== Hey All, As you know we’re expecting a huge blizzard tomorrow. We wanted to take a moment to send a few reminders. BEFORE THE STORM -- Check in on your neighbors who are new parents, elderly or disabled. Run an errand to get them milk and bread, or other supplies or medicine before the storm hits. -- With the strong winds predicted, check your gardens and terraces for things that could be blown around. -- Alt-side parking is suspended Monday and Tuesday, as is garbage collection. -- Make plans with if you have a nanny. They may have kids of her own or have to try to come to you in unsafe travel conditions (buy them a car ride if its bad weather and they have to come to work). (BTW its normative to pay your nanny if they can’t make it to their job because of the weather). -- If youve got to plan to work from home reach out to your neighbors or baby groups to see if you can plan a swap-situation. -- Need official updates? Check out the NYC Severe Weather Site: www1.nyc.gov/site/severeweather/index.page -- Another useful site is the Office of Emergency Management weather tips (things like snow removal reminders). AFTER THE STORM -- Please help out your neighbors if you can by shoveling your sidewalks (and if you have some extra time do it for a neighbor for whom it’s difficult) because there are people HAVE to be out and about on the streets. -- Have a snow shoveler for hire? Send their name/email/phone to susan@parkslopeparents -- There are some fun things to do if you’re stuck indoors on our website(bit.ly/PSPIndoorActivities) . Oh-- and a list of kid-friendly movies: bit.ly/PSPMovieNight -- If we do get to have a FUN snow day out of all of this, find our Snow Fun Advice page (things like using plastic bags and rubber bands to keep the snow out of boots). bit.ly/PSPSnowFun -- If you go out on the Prospect Park slopes for sledding, make sure its safe; the Park announces when its unsafe due to tree breakage. And when we get to the sledding stage be especially mindful and attentive on the hills since it can get busy out there (and dangerous if people aren’t watching out). Well post if/when they have hot chocolate out there! -- Lets hope its more hype than happening but be prepared. Take precautions, stay safe, and you can always find us online if you get cabin fever!
