We should all know by now that when a true and gracious Republican loses an election, it can only be because of shenanigans. This is especially true when there are black Americans involved; surely, there must be a crime here somewhere! Members of McDaniels campaign staff and some supporters began sorting through voter books on Thursday morning at the Hinds County courthouse. They are looking for any irregularities. The Hinds County courthouse is the same place McDaniel supporters found themselves accidentally locked in overnight after the primary, so theyre pretty familiar with the place. As for the irregularities search, its a Hail Mary. The poll workers already had lists of who had already voted for a Democratic nominee when they marked people off to vote in the runoff; a memo to poll workers on voting day again emphasized that voters would not be allowed to vote in both. McDaniels team can only hope that a whole lot of poll workers were unclear on the concept, and that seems thin hope indeed. But its already clear that no matter what they find, or dont, this loss will be embedded in the tea party psyche as the result of voter fraud, defined however they need to define it. Soon well hear that its all ACORNs fault. 1:40 PM PT: Now hes asking the Mississippi Republican Party chairman to instruct county clerks to turn over their polling books to McDaniel. What power McDaniel supposes the state GOP chair to have over Mississippi election officials is, alas, unclear.
