We should expose the rogue cops, but, also in the same manner, highlight the good ones. Its about time the good news about our peace officers/ policemen get the same media mileage if not more than just being apprised of the unworthy news being done by the rogue elements in the PNP. I still believe that majority of them are honest and working hard to keep the peace. We need to help them bring back the confidence and trust that is much needed for them to do their jobs well and be successful. Without active community support, they are bound to fail. Please help improve and uplift their economic well- being by improving their pay and benefits and also provide continuing education and training. Insulate them from local politics and professionalize the police service by introducing legislations to further improve efficiency and effectiveness in crime fighting. We all know that the best attraction for investments , local and international, is a peaceful and orderly business environment. Once, we achieved this, business will grow and prosper & jobs will be created. Our scarce govt resources can then be put to better use in education and health services rather than spending on crime fighting activities. As Lord Alfred Tennyson once said; theirs not to make replies, theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do and die. So, as Chairman of the Local government committee, do whatever is necessary to strengthen, enhance and restore the pride and honor that our good police officers rightfully deserves.
