We should try this Betsy Berthe and Julie-Ann Berthe looks yummy but with Caribou :) Salton Dehydrator for my Dukan Diets Jerky I bought a Salton Dehydrator with a fan for $50 from Walmart. LOVE IT!!!!! Twice as fast as my old dehydrator & the trays are super easy to clean. I put a piece of parchment paper on the floor of the machine (cut a hole for the fan) & then sprayed each tray with Pam. The jerky slices slid off & I didnt have to soak the trays to clean. I just wipe them clean with my Norwex cloth (E-cloth would work the same). or put them in the dishwasher. Instead of using ground beef, I now make beef jerky by slicing a semi frozen steak. The slices are about 1/6- 1/5 thick. I find it convenient to slice a whole bunch of steaks or roasts at one time with my meat slicer & put back in the freezer. Marinate with: 1/2 c low sodium soy sauce 1 c. water 1 heaping c. splenda 1 heaping tsp garlic powder & cayenne pepper 12 splashes of hickory smoke I half fill a ziploc bag, add marinade & stir everything every couple hrs to make sure the middle slices are getting marinated. Since my beef is frozen, I marinate for 12 hrs or more. Then drain & fill the trays. Set the dehydrator at the highest temp then I dehydrate 2 trays for 4 hrs, 3 trays for 5 hrs, etc. & alternate the trays halfway through. I find the times will vary depending on how tightly I pack the trays & Im sure the temperature of your home will affect things also. I like my jerky soft & chewy but you might like yours drier. So keep an eye on your jerky. These jerkies were lifesavers on the Dukan Diet. I couldnt have lost over 30lbs without them. They replaced the salty or sweet snacks I use to have.
