We spent two days hiking over this route.The trail was hard to follow at times because the rock we walked on did not always show any trail at all like the worn down dirt trails we were used to. We started out late in the day and became concerned as darkness approached. We had not found the hut we would be in for the night. With out headlamps the trail was hard to follow Finally, with some luck, we arrived there in the dark. Aubrey, age 9, really enjoyed sleeping at the somewhat basic hut in which we had reserved beds. I still distinctly remember the second day going up the steep lava rock route surrounded by the constant sulphur fumes.It gave me the feeling of being inside a volcano and trying to walk out .
